Ectopic with HB :'(

December 1, 2017 at 11:27 pmSo, I just had an ectopic pregnancy, and while it didn't rupture, they still had to take the tube because the baby wasn't responding to the MTX. I was given the MTX last evening with no heartbeat seen. Today i started having severe pain in my right side. When I went back to the hospital, they did another ultrasound to make sure it hadn't ruptured and found that it had grown, and now and a heartbeat. A strong one at that in the 140s.

They took the baby and the tube but left my ovary. So I still have both of those.

We are going to give it a few months before TTC again, but since it's just monitoring, can I use OvaCue to track my patterns in the time that we are waiting?

Also, when can I start using it again? Do I need to wait until the start of my next cycle?

December 4, 2017 at 11:06 amHi there RKMomma- I am so sorry hear to about your loss. You can certainly use the OvaCue to track your patterns in the time that you are waiting. Keep in mind you may notice things a little different than they were before while your hormones re-adjust. I would recommend waiting until the beginning of your next cycle as well. This will help you be able to see all the trends within the cycle.

I’ve also had an ectopic pregnancy only 6 months into TTC, I was 10 weeks before they realized it was ectopic... mine didn’t rupture either but it was quite large and I was having bleeding so they did an emergency laprascopy surgery and I lost my right tube in the process. By the time I recovered from the surgery, I had one cycle and then got called to see the fertility Dr in my area. We did 3 cycles of Clomid and I was pregnant with my daughter!!! When it was time to TTC again we actually got pregnant that very first cycle, but it was a chemical. And then my second cycle after that I was pregnant with my second daughter!!! And interestingly enough, now that we are done having babies, my DH went for a vasectomy and it turns out he only has one sperm tube (so only half the usual Sperm), so between that and me only having 1 tube they said it was amazing that we were able to get pregnant so many times and fairly easily too! Dont loose hope! Something else I learned during this process is that the tubes and ovaries are not directly connected as most people think. You can easily ovulate on the right side and the left tube can pick up the egg and carry it down for fertilization and vice versa. So it really doesn’t matter if you only have one tube you still have just as good a chance to get pregnant as A woman with two tubes! Stay positive and keep trying! You’ll get your turn! :-)

Sorry to hear about your loss. It must've been a hard thing. It's good that you're being brave about it. You should definitely keep tracking your cycle. Use the same method you were using. As you must be familiar with it. It may take some time to re-adjust.

The tube removal will not effect your cycles so much. After some months you can start TTC again. Good luck!
