How to start Charting without period

I'm brand new to this. My daughter turns 2 tomorrow and I'd like to become pregnant soon. I'm still breastfeeding her and we co-sleep. She feeds a couple of times in the night. My period has not returned and I have no idea if I'm ovulating or not. I'm 39 and had 2 miscarriages prior to the successfull preganancy. My question: How and when do I start charting?

We recommend waiting to chart until you have at least one period. Otherwise, there is no way to know where in your cycle you are.

However, you could also just start charting and see if you find a thermal shift at some point. BBT is retroactive anyway, so this would at least let you know you did ovulate and could expect a period soon. You could also be charting awhile before seeing a thermal shift depending on how long it is until you ovulate. So, just some things to keep in mind.

Thanks for your response. Basically I'm trying to work out if I am actually ovulating. So if anybody has anything to add I would love to hear.

Also I'd be interested to hear if anybody has had a similar experience to me and if you got pregnant etc...

May 19, 2020 at 10:11 amI have been a nursing cosleeping mom too, so I know the frustrations here. I usually start charting when I start to see fertile cervical fluids, however as stated above you can chart BBT and see if that reveals anything. After my first baby when I was still nursing with no period in sight at 1.5 years postpartum, I decided to try taking vitex to start my cycles back up, as I had read it could do that. It really helped and my period started within two weeks. You might try reading up on that, and see if it might be right for you.

May 20, 2020 at 10:39 pmThanks Stephanie, I haven't heard of using Vitex so I will look into that, it sounds very interesting.

I know of people who have become pregnant without getting their menstruation back, and I know we can ovulate without seeing the blood part of the cycle so I'm mostly concerned with the fertility side of things, so any thoughts on how to increase my chances are appreciated.

P.S who's pregnant? not me.
