Now I am beginning my second cycle of IVF. Starting with de-programming my system then will begin FSH injections to produce more eggs. Hoping for eggs, multiple embryos and a successful transfer!
Thanks for the advice!

Bummer on that... why does the period ALWAYS show up after we make plans. My miscarriage started the morning of my scheduled D/C, after waiting for it to happen naturally for close to 5 weeks!!!
Good luck on your next cycle!

We’ve been trying to conceive for two years and have now restored to IVF. Hopefully we will get pregnant this cycle. Taking all of the injections and oral medications definitely is not easy especially when it causes severe headaches and hormonal changes. But, when we do become pregnant it will all be worth it.

You’re welcome! Hope you can find it useful :) IVF is exciting, I was so hopeful in getting pregnant the first cycle but, unfortunately my embryo didn’t make it after they inserted it :( an embryo is the closet we ever got to being pregnant so far. I haven’t been able to start my 2nd ivf cycle yet due to the cyst from over stimulation. Hoping I can start my 2nd cycle in January so maybe we can go through it together! The medications definitely aren’t easy, between the routine of having to take them and the terrible headaches that I had when my body was adjusting to the increased fsh levels and the headaches when I stopped the fsh injections due to my body having to adjust again. The progesterone needles are large but I didn’t find those to be too painful. The egg retrieval was painful and so was embryo insertion especially since I wasn’t under anesthesia. Stay strong and know the end goal will hopefully be a sweet little miracle! Be sure to eat healthy, get plenty of sleep, stay hydrated, and take your prenatal vitamin!! Wishing you all the best in your very first Ivf journey!! Keep me posted! I will continue to update everyone on my journey. All the best to you!
Happy Holidays, Kathrine

I should be starting my cycle early in Jan - new year’s eve or day will probably be my Day 1. We are really lucky, because there happens to be a clinical trial going on to test a stimulation drug preparation, and so we get the whole cycle at no cost. Otherwise we might not be able to do this. Downside is that it’s a blind study so there’s a 1/10 chance I could receive a placebo and the cycle fails... AND I’m not allowed to know how my follicles are developing until we get to egg retrieval or it’s canceled. However, if the first stimulation does fail for whatever reason we get a second cycle on whatever drugs/protocol our doctor chooses. After weighing the pros and cons carefully we decided we had to go forward. It’s too great of an opportunity.
Would love to keep in touch throughout. I don’t know anyone close to me that’s gone through this, so thank you so much for all the info on what to expect. Adding a cold eye mask to my amazon cart for the headaches. :) Sarah

That’s amazing that you are able to be part of a clinical trial and that they will give you two chances. I hope that you do not receive the placebo pills and that it will be a great success!! Stay positive and do all that the doctors say. Wishing you all the best! Keep me posted.

Yes, I also had a cyst but due to the stimulation from the first cycle. The nurse also told me that cysts are common even in those who aren’t doing IVF. Apparently cysts can come about during a normal period which is why the periods can also be so painful.
I finally just got my period today so hoping to start my second cycle! Hoping to go for monitoring tomorrow and get the all clear to start my meds! Will keep you posted.
Maybe we will go through the cycle together but you may start about one week later?

Sorry to hear about your chest cold, hope you’re feeling better but, like you said it’s probably best it happened when you weren’t undergoing ivf! Hope you get to start your first cycle soon! Keep me posted. I will update after every appointment.
Hopefully we both get pregnant this cycle!!

Is this your first or do you have kids? I have a 9 year old. It couldn’t have been easier conceiving him, and now we have been actively trying 6 years to give him a sibling. Since our issue is my husband’s very low sperm count, the doctor can only assume our first son was just pure luck bc they can’t find a reason for his low count. :/
Hope you don’t feel too many side effects from the medications and that part of it goes smoothly. Keep yourself distracted so it goes by as quickly as possible and practice self care! Great excuse for stretchy pants every day and takeout.

Kathrine, thank you for your tips on the other thread, will keep them all in mind when I start my cycle. That’s great news that you’re starting your second cycle, best of luck and definitely keep us posted. I’ll keep everything crossed for you!
Sarah, that sounds interesting about the clinical trial and amazing that it’s at no cost! I also hope that everything works out perfectly for you.
We had our first meeting with the fertility clinic during the week to get a better understanding of IVF and the costs involved. We’re excited to start the process but our next step is to pick a specialist and make an appointment for more blood tests, possibly ultrasounds and hubby to have another analysis done. After that’s all done we will then be able to get our IVF plan and I’m hoping we can start our first cycle in March. I’m planning to do the egg collection awake, I’ve had some people say it’s extreamly painful and others say it’s bearable and feels like cramps, so that’s got me a little worried but I’ll try it for the sake of saving some money. How did you find the collection Kathrine?

So glad to hear you have one child and that you had no issues conceiving the first time!! But, so sorry to hear you’ve been trying for so long the second time around :( hope you can get pregnant soon!! Have the doctors said anything about morphology issues? Your husband has sperm so that’s definitely a good thing!! You have everything you need, sperm and eggs! I once went to an IUI doctor because we were first considering that and he told my husband and I that there are cases that are a lot worse and that he once had a patient with a male partner who had no sperm (now that’s a big problem)!
Unfortunately, we don’t have any children yet :( we’ve been trying for over two years, I stopped keeping track now. My husband and I are both perfectly healthy and live a very healthy lifestyle along with no smoking or drinking alcohol. My husband has sperm but we found out that they have morphology issues and some are slow. He felt his testosterone drop right before we started trying to conceive and upon his blood work it was found that it was low a few months ago. After, going to an endocrinologist she also ran bloodwork but at that time his testosterone was within the normal but low range. So that may be the thing which is causing his sperm to look funny.
Hopefully with IVF they will be able to select the fast moving sperm that look fine and hopefully we will get more embryos this time around. Last IVF cycle we only had 5 eggs and ended up with just one embryo at the end. We were so lucky to have that because 5 is a very low number. Hoping to get a lot more eggs this cycle since my doctor is supposed to increase my FSH dosage.
Can’t wait to hear about the start of your journey soon!!
