I am on cycle 3 after HBC and finally just started charting. Luckily, I got my period on my first cycle although I donno if i was actually ovulating (hence why I've started charting). I think im going through the mirena crash cuz MY LORD! I am ALL over the place, a mess. But my question here is- I've charted my temp twice now, at 10am when I wake up. It'd been 98.3. Is that normal? I am on CD 5 and I'm brown spotting :) Average Length of cycle is 32/33 days so far.

September 28, 2020 at 11:07 amHi, welcome! Your temps can be a little bit warmer during your period. The main thing to look for is a thermal shift after ovulation has occured. So your temps should go from lower to higher and have a biphasic pattern.

With this being your first cycle, it's hard to say what your 'normal' temps will be.

So like I said, I got my IUD out July 28th, i am now on cycle 3 of ttc. So far, my past two cycles have been 31 and 33 days respectively. 15 day luteal phase and 3 day period length. O days have also been on day 17 and day 20 respectively. This time tho, i THINK i ovulated on day 12? Here's why- I had weird pelvic pains and am brown spotting. CF was VERY watery for a few days but not at all stretchy. OPK showed a kinda strong line and the chart is weird. We did the BD just to be safe but I am more curious about how to read/ understand my chart. I am wondering if my temp spiked because I was spotting? I now feel like a crazy person trying to understand my body. Like if I DID ovulate on day 12, does that mean my period i coming sooner than the past two months? Thank you for any/ all your help :)

P.S: I recently eliminated sugar and dairy from diet - about a week now. Don't know if that matters

October 5, 2020 at 11:41 amHi. Thanks for all of that information. If your temps continue to stay elevated, CD 12 looks like it could be a possible ovulation day. As well, if you have a luteal phase that is consistently 15 days, and you are not pregnant, it is possible your cycle could be as short as 27 days. That is a pretty normal fluctuation in cycle lengths.

I am not aware of a temp rise because of spotting if it is not ovulation. A lot of people can see spotting around ovulation. It would be hard to pinpoint which it was as they tend to happen in conjunction with one another.

I am not sure how changing your diet would affect ovulation at this point, sorry about that.
