Oh no spotting. I did have sharp pains, one on each side tonight. My low back is hurting pretty bad and has been all day. I have been on my left side or back with help of lots of good pillows.

When I had my MC my Dr told me what to expect in advance. I was around 10 1/2 weeks along. She said there would be a lot of blood. She recommended I buy maternity and incontinence pads rather than using normal sanitary pads and she said not to be scared by the amount of blood. She said at its peak I may need to change the large pads every 15 minutes but that this should not continue for more than a 12 hour period before it slowed down. She said I may have a day or so of lighter bleeding first (like a heavy AF) then the peak would come and this would be as the main matter was passing so to expect clots etc. she said this very heavy period is likely to be when I would be feeling contractions and pain and she said the pain could be fairly severe so she prescribed a heavy duty pain reliever. She told me to try and stick it out at home but to make sure I had someone with me at all times as when you go to the ER they will often push you for a D&C and I was trying to avoid that. But she said I would need to go to the ER if the very heavy period of bleeding lasted longer than 24 hours or if I was having any symptoms of too much blood loss like dizziness or disorientation. Or if the pain got too much to deal with after the pain relief was taken. She also said if the maternity pads were filling in only a few minutes this could be a sign of too much blood loss. In the end I was taken to the ER by my DH as I passed out on the bathroom floor because of the pain. On examination they said my cervix had not dilated at all so the pain was because the clots were trying to pass through a tightly closed cervix. A D & C was necessary for me unfortunately.
Sorry if this is all TMI but hopefully the advice I got about what is normal and what is not as you progress through a MC this late is helpful. We are all thinking about you and sending you strong thoughts and I hope the difficult part physically is over before your weekend ends.
